Eschborn lies immediately beyond Frankfurt and, thanks to its low corporate tax level, has for more than 20 years now been a much sought-after place for building. With no design bye-laws or master plan, however, the small town resembled more a hotchpotch of arbitrary architecture than a location for office buildings in the shadow of the region’s major city. However, here too there has in recent times been a call for more order and improved architecture.
With its precise shape the 88-meter high Arcor building presents a contrast to the former architectural no man’s land, and, depending on the angle from which it is viewed, appears wide, narrow, convex or concave. The H-shaped complex comprising the curved high-rise and two lower sections is characterized by solidity and quality.
The building is as striking in the midst of its chaotic neighbors as its interior is successful and convincing. The enclosed forecourt leads into a spacious foyer. In the building itself, cool functionality reigns. Offices, conference rooms, a call center, a post office and a shop complement one another in a clearly arranged interior, with, from the 22nd floor, an overwhelming view of the neighborhood.
