This branch of the Dresdner Bank was built the on land at the corner of a row of intact old buildings. The design of the office building and bank branch was determined by its central location position at the heart of the city between the Town Hall and Michaelskirche. Moreover, developing an empty space in an otherwise intact ensemble meant having to adopt the same floor height and window formats as the neighboring buildings and making the transition to them unassuming. This also governed the choice of materials that could be used. The result is a new building that while blending in with its surroundings is nonetheless clearly recognizable for its contemporary character.
