Originally, Frankensteiner Hof the seat of nobility. Following War damage the Drainage and Sewerage Department (Amt für Entwässerung) occupied the site, while the elongated complex is currently being converted into the Town Hall for Social Affairs, apartments and studios. The conversion is characterized by careful handling of the original fabric. Previously not particularly inviting, the facades now open up to their surroundings thanks to large windows. A new, tower-like building with nine apartments on Große Rittergasse marks a clear new beginning for the somewhat neglected quarter. It stands between the blocks of the former Amt für Entwässerung and forms the new entrance building to the Alt-Sachsenhausen district. To the north the tower follows the course of the street, while to the south it opens up by virtue of loggias and private gardens. Narrow gables and pointed roofs cite the small details typical of the district, and the plasterwork also reflects that of other houses in the district. The façade colors follow the color guide stipulated for old Sachsenhausen in 2001.
